Our Expert review of the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1 Tablet
How it’s currently spec’d:
The Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1 inch SM-T515 was released in 2019 and spec’d as follows: a 10.1” Full HD 1920 x 1200 resolution multi-touch display with narrow bezels. Equipped with 8 core 1.80GHz processor, 2GB RAM and 32GB storage. Android 11 is supported on the Tab A and you’ll also be able to use the built in Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and 4G connectivity.
Where we think it excels:
With the look and feel of a far more premium tablet, the Samsung Galaxy Tab SM-T515 offers a genuine budget alternative to the more expensive iPad Airs and Pros. The 10.1 inch screen does lack the punch of a Super AMOLD display but with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 it still delivered solid and sharp visuals. You’ll also be able to play games, browse the web, flick through instagram and watch shows on Netflix without and lag or buffering. What will also be music to parent’s ears is the Kids Home mode. If you’re buying for you little one it’s vitally important they have a safe space to explore and learn.
What we think its drawbacks are:
As the Tab A isn’t one of Samsung premium line tablets so there is no Super AMOLD display and only 2 speakers placed at the bottom of the tablet. 32GB storage isn’t masses either, especially once you’ve taken in to account some for the operating system and other essential apps.
What we think of the design:
The Tab A is probably one of the best looking tablets you’ll find, especially given its price. Mostly made from aluminium apart from a thin plastic strip, which is very much on purpose to help with the wireless antennas signal strength. Compared to earlier Samsung tablets, the bezels have been thinned down significantly and Samsung have also introduced USB Type C for charging and data transfer.
Who it’s suitable for:
Brilliant for home use including gaming, internet banking, social media and streaming, the Samsung Galaxy Tab A also provides a safe space for kids to learn and explore.
