A+,
Excellent buy. Like always its very good. Very happy with the service and quick delivery.

Two More Good Buys from Morgans,
I bought one of these laptops and was rather pleased so ordered another. For me it was quite a leap of faith to abandon XP for Win 7. I installed two old printers without having too many driver problems. There were some issues upon delivery (excellent service from DPD) - (loose keycap on one m/c, missing psu and DOA battery on the other). It only took a couple of emails to Morgan's support and in no time replacement parts arrived so all is OK now. I tried to find a user manual on the web and it seems that there isn't one. You need a program called Lenovo Bridge which I downloaded and installed but it doesn't want to do anything! You can download a service manual which might be useful if you have to change the CMOS battery in a hurry one day. Many reviews on the website are from long-standing customers who know and understand what to expect from buying used machines, and, like me, are very happy to trust Morgans.

Great Laptop, super service!,
Delivery was within 36 hours of ordering, it was really well packed, and it worked out-of-the-box, no problems. These ThinkPad 410s are a solid embodyment of the parent IBM standards and values. It's not eye-candy, but it looks business-like and is well made, which has its own aesthetic. Our first addition to ours was a tiny SanDisk USB drive set up for "ReadyBoost"; seems to help. After the usual interminable Win configuration and updates ours boots to the Win7 login inside 30 seconds - which is good for an old-style spinny hard drive optimised for battery life. The updates were then turned off, and the GWX Win10 blocker installed to prevent nagging and the risk of infection with Win10 stuff. Updates are turned on manually when needed and scanned carefully before selection! Once booted and logged in, it scampers around the usual applications with alacrity, and is a pleasure to use. Be careful that (as with all MS Windows) you do not install an over-weight anti-malware/virus suite. We use ClamWin combined with Windows Defender and the BitDefender "60-sec" scanner. We never, ever use Internet Explorer online. Firefox is our favourite browser to configure for web safety, with Flash activated when approved. Chrome would be our second choice - mostly because of Google's data hoovering. If you try to make a boot/password disc (recommended) it objects - but that is only reasonable since the optical drive is a DVD-ROM. ROM is Read Only Memory, so this drive does not write to CD or DVD - it's not intended to. If you lack an external drive, replacement DVD/CD-RW drives that will Read & Write are under a tenner on eBay UK. They are as easy to swap as the battery, there's a sliding catch underneath, no screws needed! This is a used laptop with a used battery, which reports that it has over half its original capacity. That's fair, it still goes for a couple of hours. Our 410 is mostly used on a mains lead - if that ever changes we can always get a fat aftermarket battery for it. Plenty of aftermarket support for IBM/Lenovo. When the budget allows we'll also get a fat SSD drive for this excellent laptop. It'll boot a lot faster, burn less battery, and be far more robust mechanically. With (say) Bodhi Linux on dual-boot with Win7 the performance will increase dramatically in our experience. There was one thing missing on delivery - the red nubbin for the little track-stick thing between the G H & B keys... More in hope than expectation, I 'phoned Morgan, and to my amazement a new red nubbin arrived by first post the following morning! Well done, Morgan Computers. Very good service indeed.

No regrets,
Two friends (both of whom are pretty knowledgeable about computers) recommended I use Morgan Computers. They were right. The machine arrived superbly well packed, looking like new. I installed all my usual software with few problems and am completely at home on it. I use it for everything - work and pleasure - and am utterly delighted. For a review to be credible, I have to find something to complain about, right? Well, as you might expect from a non-new machine, the battery lasts about a third as long as a brand new one. Am I bothered? No. I'll just buy a new one if I need to do extensive off-grid work. Morgan's service, the quality of the refurb' and the product itself are all superb. Not a single nasty surprise. I've already recommended the company to others and I'll be right back there for some add-ons very soon.
